My husband is a bit of an op shopper like me.

He brought me home this beautiful retro nutrimetics case yesterday which I have already loaded with my little stash of vintage fabrics. Also a cute little wooden dish. I really do like it.  It's amazing how different something can look once you take it away from the op shop and into your home. Good work hubby : )

Wow we have yet again a lot of applications for our next market on the 20th of August. Look's like it will be a full house again. x

Absolutely Alice

I really think you have it right on the mark. Your products are stunning. I brought two Golden note books that I just know will be loved. Almost too beautiful to use!!!!

And my last little splash out.....

I've had my eye on this little darling for a while now. I'm really unsure which room he will live it. But at the moment I'm just enjoying having him around. Wahhhh he's super cute.

I guess I really should stop shopping each month. But with so many amazing people in one room it's very, very had to stop....... Lisa

Right I love fresh flowers. They make me feel happy and can totally change the feel of a room. Bring a smile to someone's face, and smell amazing.  I think it's about time CT had a flower person. We have the perfect spot right outside the hall. So drop me an email if you know of anyone. Or your the person person to sell your beauty each month.

Introducing Sweet Surrender

Nicole has been baking since she was little (read the full story on her Her approach to cake making is unique and she gets her inspiration from almost anywhere; a movie, a historical event,a book, the stylish era of the 1920ties/30 & 1950ties,fabrics...the soft touch of silk or rich sumptuous velvet...too many too list here..the whole world is sooo inspiring! "My cakes are "staged" and I have or make up a story to go with them..Life is a stage and we might as well celebrate, right? "

Her cakes are mainly for "Grown Ups" (no Dora the Explorer stuff in her repertoire..) Nicole is well known for her unusual and  sometimes daring flavour combinations & decorations. She likes to push the culinary boundaries a bit and certainly provide something "different" for the discerning & adventurous taste palette.

Nicole has been catering for fabulous events like the International Burlesque Festival on Waiheke last year, NZ Fashion Week,Costume Parties for the wild & creative, Fashion Shows & also of course for weddings, baby showers etc. She likes to follow her intuition & also adapt old recipes (for example from the 18th century) giving them a modern twist...Nicoles  motto is :"get inspired, try something new, dare to be different, have an open mind & heart, indulge, most of all appreciate, travel & taste as much as possible, have some fun and enjoy something beautiful on ya plate.."I invite you hereby to share my passion for sweet creations..Surrender to the Sweetness in Life"

Nicole thank you so much for you time. I can't wait to grab a yummy treat on Saturday : )

Introducing Poppy & Bee

Poppy&Bee is the home of crochet goodies for every member of the family. Natalie started her business by accident, after mucking around with finger puppets and miniature purses over summer, and finding a lot of requests coming in for custom made crochet goodies decided that it might be time to set up a TradeMe account. Fast forward six months, add in a website, blog, a feature in Little Treasures Magazine, three monthly markets and a Facebook Store and Poppy&Bee is fast becoming the go-to name for high quality, New Zealand yarn crochet hats and scarves.

“Luckily I had a lot of nice friends who wanted to indulge my crochet addiction, and I just kept on going from there”.

“I really love being able to crochet, it’s an age old skill that I learnt from my Mum, and I love that it’s passed down from generation to generation. I’ve already started to teach the Bee, he made his first crochet wristband at Easter and wore it for over a month without taking it off.”

With a focus on high quality yarns and a preference for natural fibres - beautiful handmade crochet garments and accessories are Poppy & Bee's specialty.

Add to this top quality finishes and detailing, Poppy & Bee's crochet creations available on-line at and can be custom made to order – using New Zealand yarns including Merino, Alpaca and Possum. All sizes from Newborn to Adult are accommodated.

I’m quite particular about what fibres I use, and make sure that I know where they’re from, and how they work with the design I’m doing at the time. It’s been great accessing more New Zealand Possum and Alpaca yarns, they are so amazingly soft and light, and not many people have worn or even felt them before. It’s so satisfying seeing someone wear that yarn for the first time and be so happy and warm!”

Poppy&Bee is named for Natalie’s two children – “It was around midnight and I thought, right – if I’m doing this I’d better get a name, and to make sure I didn’t chicken out I started a blog at the same time – so it became ‘real’ about 1am one summer morning. The bad sleeping habits haven’t changed though, although I can’t crochet anything requiring complicated counting after about 10pm!

Natalie has also started a network for other work at home parents in Auckland, after seeing a need for a space for fellow artists and crafters who work from home in their own small businesses to catch up and share ideas and good coffee once a month. You can find out more about this here.

“I’m so excited to be finally running my own business, and enjoying the challenges unique to being a crochet artist. I am loving winter and the lovely chunky goodies that involves, and can’t wait to see what I come up with for summer – watch this space!”

I know I will be watching what you have in store for use Natalie. I really do love your beautiful work.
